All tackle boxes start out as 4/4 rough cut lumber that has been hand-selected from premium wood. Each board is chosen for its grain structure and beauty. The wood is then planed, re-sawed and re-planed again down to the desired thickness. All exterior pieces for each box are cut to size and sanded.
The next step of cutting the box joints is a meticulous one. The box joints are carefully cut so that no tearouts or rips occur. Finally, all interior pieces are cut for the trays and hand sanded. A sealer is then applied. Once dried, the selected stain is applied to all pieces. We then glue and clamp the pieces for the finished product. The first of at least 6 coats of polyurethane is applied with hand sanding between each coat. The last stage of construction is the box being pre-drilled and pre-fitted for the hardware. All hardware is solid brass, and the front latch is hand cast in the USA.
These large tackle boxes are a replica of an antique tackle box. A craftsman/fisherman (we believe by the name of Morman) created these tackle boxes by hand for the Way family. Morman worked out of a fish camp along the St. Johns River in Central Florida. These replica tackle boxes require about 60 pieces of wood that total approximately 15 board feet of lumber. They also require 70 pieces of solid brass hardware.
Included in the tackle box is a brass plaque with engraved name, and each one is hand-signed and numbered. Enter up to 20 characters that you want on the brass plaque in the "Plaque Text" box above when ordering.
This labor-intensive tackle box takes about 50-60 hours of work to complete. We here at Hall Em In Lures feel we have re-created a unique masterpiece of nostalgic history.
Each tackle box is custom crafted upon order. Please feel free to

STAINS |
| Rich Mahogany Stain is a very dark, rich burgandy color that accentuates the grain structure of the wood. This stain is our most popular. Not only does it deepen the color of the wood, it really makes the solid brass fixtures "pop". This stain is for the people who love dark rich color in their wood products. |
Georgian Cherry Stain is a medium brown stain with a slight hint of red tones. We have found that this stain works nicely on all of the woods and it leaves a rich but transparent finish so you can see all of the grain structure of the wood. A very nice choice for people who like wood finish close to its natural color. |
